Ultimate Sports Weekend Party
American Thanksgiving is one of the most important weekends of the NFL season. Here in Canada, we may not get a national holiday but, as my exploits this past weekend will tell you, we sure know how to celebrate (and I don’t mean by eating turkey). So, how does a Canadian guy with some cash to blow celebrate this American holiday? By throwing the best private party in town, complete with big screen TV’s, all my best buds, some pretty faces, and enough good eats and drinks to fuel the madness all weekend long. This year, my friends and I put on one of my best parties yet and it definitely warrants a blog entry.
Last year I flew my friends down to Dallas to catch the big game between the Cowboys and the Eagles in a luxury box suite. This year I kept it local. Here’s how you throw an NFL-worthy party in Canada.
It all started with choosing the perfect venue. This is key. You can’t throw the best NFL party just anywhere. First of all there has to be enough room to host that critical mass of party guests. You want your party to have enough people and energy to rival Glendale Stadium after a winning touchdown. The bar must offer quality service, massive television screens on every wall, high-end cuisine, an unlimited supply of drinks, and some sexy waitresses never hurt. This year I went with Real Sports Bar & Grill.
Who was on the guest list? All my best guy friends, some lovely lady friends of mine, and all the craziest football fans I know. If you can rally up a crew like I had this year, you’ve got the recipe for a good time. The best part? We all placed our bets for some next-level action so I actually made money off this event. You know things got pretty crazy when we busted out a giant bottle of Grey Goose for our customary Thanksgiving football drinking game. Let’s just say that thanks to Calvin Johnson’s three touchdowns against Philly, a few of my buddies might not remember anything that happened after that.
All in all, this year was a total success and I’m planning to up the ante even more for next year so stay tuned.
