As a Canadian, I pretty much wait for summer for half the year, and when it comes, I enjoy every minute of it. After all, I’ve got to soak up enough sun to get me through winter. Unfortunately, wild summer days and nights are coming to an end, so to help you make sure you’ve covered all your bases, I’ve created an end-of-summer bucket list. Wrap up the summer in style with these five recommendations.
Throw a Pool Party
Knocking back drinks by the pool is a summer staple for most, so if you have a pool at your disposal and haven’t yet thrown a wet-hot party, you’re letting your whole crew down. The good news is, it’s not too late. Now‘s the time to spark up that BBQ and stock up on enough booze to get all your friends, and your friends’ friends, into the pool and onto your Instagram feed.
Toss the Ball Around
Don’t pass up the chance to get in shape and work on your tan simultaneously. You’ll be running on that treadmill all winter long so put that gym membership on hold and call up some buddies and broads for a game of beach volleyball.
Catch a Summer Blockbuster
There’s always a big blockbuster that’s calling itself the movie of the summer, and your summer won’t be complete until you’ve seen it. This is the season when some of the best movies are released, so unless you’re cool with being out-of-the loop when it comes to all those one-liners taken from that epic summer flick you missed, I suggest you find a hot date and make a b-line for the theater.
Rent a Luxury Cottage for the Weekend
How can you let any summer end without a weekend in the great outdoors? Sitting by the fire with a couple of cold brews is a must-do every summer. Get your buddies in on the plan and head out into the wilderness for one last cottage party.
Drink an Expensive Bottle of Champagne
There’s no denying that Champagne tastes best in the summer sun. Before you make the switch to that pricy case of full-bodied red you ordered last winter, make the most of the last few weeks of heat and pop the cork of a chilled bottle of Champagne while catching your last summer rays. You can always make it a party by calling up some thirsty ladies to help you polish off what’s left of your bubbly stash on a patio while watching the setting sun.
