Video Poker: Joker Poker Rules

Bodog’s Video poker Games offer some of the lowest house edges you’ll find at any casino – especially when wild cards are involved. No wonder so many people love to play Joker Poker. When you’ve got 53 cards to play with including the Joker, you can make really big hands like Five of a Kind. But that’s not the biggest hand in Joker Poker. Do you know what it is? Like they say, if you want to play the game, you need to know the rules.
How to Play Joker Poker
Joker Poker is a version of 5-card draw, once the most common form of poker across the globe. After you place your bet, you receive five cards, then you have the option of throwing away as many of those cards as you want and drawing new ones. You get one draw and one draw only, then the hand is over. If you have at least a Pair of Kings, you win a prize; the stronger your hand is, based on the standard hand rankings for poker, the bigger your prize will be.
You also get paid more in Joker Poker depending on how many coins you bet. You can wager anywhere from one to five coins at the same time, and those coins can be 5 cents, 25 cents, 50 cents, $1 or $5 each. Your prize goes up in relation to how many coins you bet. For example, if you bet one coin at 5 cents and make a Pair of Kings, you win 5 cents. If you bet two coins, you win 10 cents, and so on.
Bet Max for Max Value
There is one important deviation from this rule, and that’s when you bet the maximum five coins and make the best hand in Joker Poker: a Sequential Royal Flush. That’s Ten, Jack, Queen, King and Ace of the same suit, in that order. If you bet one coin and make a Sequential, you get paid 500X, but if you bet five coins, you win the 20,000X jackpot.
This is why it’s always a good idea to bet the max when you play video poker at Bodog (check out the Top 10 Reasons to Play Video Poker), whether it’s Joker Poker or any other game.
